This is a replica WC-43 as the frame
number was ground-off years ago and so the actual model of the
original truck is lost. The Telephone body was acquired in Chowchilla,
California and was probably originally mounted to a trailer as
there was no hole for the fuel tank filler neck. Several of the
drawers and shelves are missing- time will allow correction, as
well as moving the spare tire to inside the body. This is a working
truck, in that I now use the truck in my sid business of home
electrical installation and old vehicle repair; this is yet another
chapter in this truck's life. The bumper markings represent the vehicle assigned to 4th Air Force, Signal Corps, Company 318, vehicle number 7. This unit was posted to March Air Field in WWII, located east of Riverside, California near the vehicle's present residence; this Field is now a U.S. Air Force Reserve Base, from which my uncle William Park retired (Lt. Col.). |
